The Car Talk Poetry Reading

One could rightfully imagine that Car Talk inspires all sorts of reactions in our listeners, such as finding something better to listen to, getting that CD player repairedÊ and firing off an expletive-packed letter to the president of National Public Radio.

But Car Talk inspiring poetry? Apparently so.

Almost every week, it seems, someone gets struck by an overwhelming hankering to put quill to parchment, and combine carburetor and verse.

Here, then, are the best of an eclectic assortment of car poetry, recorded and masterfully produced by our crack engineer, Dennis "The Menace" Foley, and read by the assorted staff and lackeys over at WBUR in Our Fair City.

Hear Tommy read the famed ode to his dearly departed '63 Dodge Dart, entitled "Objet D'art," by Charlie Boyd.
