This last week, Car Talk's esteemed co-host Ray had a chance to emcee the first-ever Lemelson-MIT-Program Windy 500 sail car races at the Museum of Science in Boston.

The race is a competition between high-school teams, to build the fastest wind-powered* vehicle in one morning, using only the materials provided. So, naturally, it makes perfect sense that one of the two windiest co-hosts in public radio would drop by to judge the event.

The Lemelson-MIT Program encourages teens to embrace science, engineering and innovation.

With Ray on hand, numerous other awards were suddenly created and bestowed on the spot — including the "Best Use of Duct Tape," "I Can't Believe It!" and "Vehicle Most Likely to Be Owned by My Brother" awards.
