Andrew's Auto Parts Predicament
From: Andrew Sakla
Dear Click and Clack:
I currently work in a nationwide chain auto
parts store whose slogan is "Get in the
Zone." I applied for this job when I moved to
College Station, TX for college. The problem
I have is that when I applied for this job I
impressed my manager with my knowledge of
complex automobile problems that I picked up
from years of listening to your show. After 6
months of working in this store I have begun
to realize that I have absolutely no idea
what I'm doing. Every customer comes in with
these just horrible symptoms their vehicles
are presenting with and I have humbled myself
to only suggesting tune ups, filter and fluid
changes like the numerous posters around the
store suggest. How can I keep from becoming
just another unhelpful employee. Of course I
blame you for my current predicament, if it
wasn't for you I wouldn't have gotten this
lousy job to begin with.
Your fan,
Andrew
